Updates

First of all, thank you to all of you who helped out in the recent car wash! Every effort counts =)

3 Things You could do to ensure the Successful Publication of Convo Mag

1. Be present on the 3rd/4th week on sem 8 (when we gotta be in imu) and make an effort to BE THERE when notified about a white-coat photo session

2. Be present on the 3rd/4th week on sem 8 (when we gotta be in imu) and vote for B105 Oscar Awards that will be conducted when B105 meet as a class.

3. Actively seek out for sponsorships (especially those under the 'Sponsorship' committee)

Updates on the Printers of Convo Mag
Malacca: digital printing, 'staple (??) bound' <--this is what she offered me when I asked for 'sewn-binding' (ahe said that the staples won't be seen) : RM 85 per mag

Mr Cheong (KL): offset printing, sewn binding: RM 120 per mag (price quoted when I last spoke to him in July)

Funds that we have: estimated RM 4500 (chan will update me with the real figure soon)
Based on this figure, each person will be subsidised RM 56 for his/her convo mag, the remaining $ will be paid by himself/herself.

Bpharm Superlatives

As we will have to vote for the 'hall of fame' by 18/7, we (especially the Profiles, Polls and Dedications Team) would like you to channel your ideas here.

Hall of Fame features 'awards' like facebook superlatives, whereby we nominate a few candidates for a certain 'award'.

e.g.
-Most likely to be the next Bill Gate
-Most likely to be a lecturer in imu
-Bpharm Sleeping King
-Joker of the Batch

....u get the idea. So which awards SHOULD be in the convo mag? Let's start discussing!

cheers,
gw

Friendly reminder: Submit pics to Alen by 18/7, thanks!

United Job Distribution

Dear all,

We need to start working on our convo mag like NOW.... Why?

1. Our seniors did NOT have a convo mag. I heard u ask, 'didn't they raise funds for that? the cupid thingy?' My answer is, yes they DID plan for a convo mag, but they didn't have time in sem7 and sem 8 to complete it, so they did away with the convo mag. We do not wish to end up like them, do we?

2. In sem 7, quite a number of our friends won't be in kl as they are doing their researches in their hometowns. It is hard to call for editorial board meetings, let alone discussion with the class. There is NO MORE ROOM for 'see first', 'gather more ideas', etc.

3. The current sem4 medic(going on sem 5) had their editorial board elected like weeks ago, and as of TODAY, they have already voted for the polls. They are also planning for fund-raising activities. That's how EFFICIENT we should be.

Dateline: The blueprint of the convo mag must be done BY THE END of sem 7. Sem 8 is for the finishing touches. All other sems complete their convo mag in one sem, so can we!

Job Distribution:
Everyone:
1.Select photos that you would like to be featured in the convo mag and pass them to your respective group leaders (Committee members please take note). Photoshop them or get someone to photoshop for you if possible. (Alen has a heavy task ahead so we shall lighten his burden. During this holz, u can learn photoshop from online tutorials!!)

By the end of the 3rd week of sem 7, if alen hasn't received photos from you (sem1-6), we take it that you trust alen's judgement greatly *wink* and he & his team shall select the photos on your behalf.

2. Help us find a printing company. We want:
-Hard cover, front and back
-100 coloured pages
-80 copies of convo mag

IMU printing guy quoted me RM100 per copy for the above criteria. Let's try to look for a cheaper alternative. Fyi, even if it is RM80 per copy, we are still Rm3500 short.

Articles and Contributions:
For articles, please come up with the list of events to be featured in the convo mag and get keen writers to start writing this hols, if possible.
This is a list that I thought of so far, if you have any suggestion, please get in touch with steph/chia woon's team.

Sem

Events/ Project

1

White Coat Ceremony
B105 Orientation
Hospital & Orphanage Visit
IMU Cup

2

P106 Orientation

Redang Trip

3

B106 Orientation
IMU Cup

4

Malaysian Studies Cultural Project
Industrial Attachment

5

IMU Cup- Cheerleading
IMU Charity Run Cum Carnival

6

Love is In The Air
Food Sale
Hospital Attachment

For contributions, it means PHOTOS. Some events need not a write-up, but interesting captions will do, e.g.:

Profiles, Polls and Dedications:
Here are what mpharm did, hope they manage to bring 'enlightenment' to you all.

Profiles

Profiles

Polls

Dedications

Fabulous Secretary & her fabulous team:
Plan on interviewing lecturers and getting their msgs. Think of which lecturers u will feature in the interviews, what Qs to ask. Please send me the draft by the end of this holz if possible.

Sponsorships and Advertisements:
Can you please forward the sponsorship letter to imu alumni (Whom u all told me, promised
RM 1k) as well as VK bookstore & Sri Emas cafe?
Sponsorships may just be the key to narrowing the gap btw our target and our current funds!
Do use this holidays fruitfully ;)

Graphics and Layout:
Alen has started work on the cover design. The other roles are self-explanatory.

Mpharm's convo mag cover.

Feel free to offer your ideas and help=) ANYONE can offer their assistance in ANY section! Thanks for being part of the production of OUR convo mag.

The Official Convo Mag Theme: B105 Pharmacopoeia

Official result: Majority of B105 have chosen B105 Pharmacopoeia Limited Edition

59% of B105 have "turn on9" and voted.

At the mean time, the design of our convo mag cover & logo is underway. Thanks to Alen & You Leu for their brillant , creative contribution !

Voting!!

Voting commences NOW!! Everyone is entitled to vote for ONE theme ONLY.

How to VOTE:
1. Leave a comment at this blog along with your name; OR
2. Email Alen at aleny2k@hotmail.com AND I at milkyway_gianwan@hotmail.com, do remember to leave your name too!!

We seek your cooperation in leaving your name as we need to tally the votes. We are NOT using poll as we can't ensure that ONE person has only voted ONCE. The poll we did some time ago was subjected to multiple voting by the same person.

The rationale behind emailing TWO people instead of one is to increase transparency. In line with that, the results of the voting will be posted up too.

Voting closes on 11.59 p.m. 5/6/08 (Thursday) and the theme will thus be finalised.

The shortlisted 'nominees', based on views that we managed to get from Y-O-U all, are:
1. B105 Pharmacopoeia
2. Frozen In Time
3. inFUSION
4. Lasting Impressions
5. The Book

Thanks everyone =) Let's do our part in ensuring a high turnout in this voting!

Last Call!

Dear all,

We wish to inform you that the LAST day to submit your suggested themes is 9.00 p.m. 2/6/08 (Monday).

Voting will commence on 3/6/08 (Tuesday) once the voting list is out; you will be duly notified via emails , blog or msn shout-out.

Voting closes on 4/6/08 (Thursday) and the theme will thus be finalised.

We have tried our best to get everyone's attention regarding this by many means, be it shout-out on msn, emails and more emails, or words of mouth. We believe that sufficient time has been given and we seek your kind cooperation in spreading the words around to your friends =) Only with a theme, can the graphics & design team progress in the production of our convo mag. We do not wish to rush through our convo mag amidst reading piles of journals, finalising our thesis, clerking cases and doing case presentations in future sems.

We wish to thank all those who have contributed your views/comments and have been actively involved in keeping this blog alive lols. Please keep this spirit up!!

Thank you so much, u will make my day =)

(edited at 4p.m. on 23/5 by gian wan)

Edited on 25/5 by gian wan
The bolded themes above are those that ppl have expressed likings for. For your info, our mpharm friend's have 'Fragments of Memories' as their theme. Thus, I am not in favour of any theme with 'memories' (like 'painting memories' though it is good) as it will reflect the lack of creativity among pharmacy group, what more when there ain't much gap in betwen our 2 batches.

Elaine found out that wai k had posted for themes suggestion in lowyat forum.

'Currently,we are still trying to come out with a name for our convocation/graduation magazine.Everyone gave out names which are quite "generic" and we wish to have something unique and memorable.'

I shall post some replies here so u all can have a wider option:
31. Overdose
32. Critically Acclaimed
33. Drug Store Journal
34. Final Dosage
35. Final Bolus (what wai k suggested previously)

For laughter's sake, here are some (not serious) replies:
Since after this u going 2 get a job, why not "From the melting pot into the frying pan".
' The Drug Addict Collection'

Do bear in mind that the theme should reflect what we have been through and what memories we would like to leave behind. Being catchy is not really a must, but a bonus. Thanks everyone for the comments, voting will commence once we have received enough comments. *hint to committee members*

Blog Revived!

Since it is holz now, I hope that we could discuss about our funding for convo mag as well as starting to plan the convo mag itself ^_^

I have received ZERO reply to my mass email to the class; so I hope by initiating discussion in this blog, there will be progress.

First of all, we need to decide on the THEME. This is of great urgency as hh would like yeu l to design a logo, and he is flying off soon. Moreover, with the theme settled, we can then start planning for the contents itself.

The page that elaine posted with many themes to trigger your minds =)
http://www.jostens.com/yearbook/YBThemes.pdf

Here were Wai Kit's comments in the post some time ago:
THE BOOK. (BOLD letters under which with fine print: 'that you'll keep forever... HOPEFULLY')

Where'd My 4 Years Gone?

Final bolus.

Something to add at the back cover of the mag:
-Ok,what's next? (really tiny print at the bottom)

Let's start putting on our thinking caps!!

p/s: please check your email for the password and user name to publish a post in this blog =D Committee members, may I request you to spare some time in replying to my previous mail (regarding funding, Profiles, Polls & Dedications). Thanks a bunch !! (^.^)

Very Important Post

This post was originally posted on 23rd Feb. However, I guess most ppl didn't notice it since it was below po leen's post so I reposted it since I hope everyone will read the contents.

First of all, Thanks to E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E for making the Valentine's day project a success; despite some minor hiccups (sorry for that; we will learn from our experience and improve in future funding projects), we all should be proud of ourselves for selling off all the items the day b4 Vday itself!! Let us continue this spirit and better still, bring it to another level ^_^ We are yet to know the exact profit as Money Chan needs time to prepare the 'financial report'. So stay tuned..

Also, thanks to those who frequently visit the blog, especially those who make their voices heard, be it in post or tagboard. Everyone is welcome to blog, regardless of what you think of your own idea (as long as it is convo-mag related).

Reminder: Alen needs all of us to decide on the THEME so he can start working on the layout and design during his free time. I know CPK is around the corner, but do spend some time thinking for the theme. During the next commitee meeting (I don't know when yet), each member should come up with a few themes (after discussing with their groups) and we will take it from there.

Next event: Joint CNY Food Sale with Mpharm on 26/2 (NEXT TUES)
Groups in charge: Stephanie & Ping Wei, Dai Lo

20% of the profits from the food sale will be contributed to mpharm in our 'joint venture'. However, Mpharm has said that if they reach their target (said to be Rm3000), they will not be taking 20% from us.

Our batch is also in charge of slave auction (person in charge: Terry) , whereby the profits will be split 60:40 with mpharm. (60 for us)

How Y-O-U can contribute:
1. BUY the tickets!! Get them from Terry!!
2. Get your friends to buy the tickets and tell them about the event! There will be lotsa food stalls, games stall (set up by Mpharm), performance and slave auction!!
3. Volunteer to be a slave =p

'Gantt Chart' for upcoming fund-raising events in Sem 6:
Really, our timetable is so packed that it is hard for us to coordinate things. However, not all is impossible. Here is my proposed plan:

Week 8: CNY Food Sale

Weeks 9-11: Hospital attachment period. Time to catch up on our assignments etc. so that we can spare some time in weeks 12-13.

Weeks 12-13: By this time, medic sem4 and sem 5 will be back *Read: potential customers*
Some of you have suggested that we do CARWASH and I think it is a good idea. (terry told me that mpharm earned Rm700 doing carwash in a few days) I suggest that the carwash be a main project for the guy gang since carwashing should be their forte eh!!

At the same time, the rest of us (Those who were majorly involved in Vday project & Food Sale) can perhaps carry out some minor projects. (Your IDEAS needed ^_^) What I have thought of so far (given our hectic schedule and limited manpower) is:

Make-up Workshop: We get a professional make-up artist to come to IMU to conduct a make-up workshop. Get students to sign-up for it and charge them a fee. We may sell some cosmetic products too.(My mum's friend can get silkygirl and revlon products at staff price, perhaps we can get our stock there).

Pros: a day-activity (relatively hassle-free), better if it can be conducted b4 imu ball *wink* as it will attract the girls' attention; at the same time, we can attract the professional make-up artist by providing them an avenue to advertise for personal make-up.

Of course there are issues like availability of make-up artist, fees charged by the make-up artist, uni approval, response by students, date of project etc etc to consider. We will shall work on that together should majority of you find the idea feasible.

Week 14: Final week. I don't think we should touch this week at all as I am sure we all need to touch up on our final assignments, start looking for our missing lectures notes *grins* and for some, studying for the EOS.

cheers,
gw

It's Andrew, b*tch

As you know, both me and Andrew were the radio announcers for Valentine's day...which didn't turn out so well due to change of location. But anyway, it was great working with Andrew on this.

Perassan-nya Andrew, kept looking at the camera...haha. The first video is funny, this was when he was not prepared but I forgot that I can't rotate the video. Anyway, enjoy.

CNY Food Sale

The other day tai lo told me what he has in mind; he will be posting a list of food soon so that we can get feedback from u all. ^_^

Meanwhile, I shall just briefly tell you what he has in mind:
1. Cookies
He will get cheap ones from his hometown in perak. I have talked to a few ppl and we all think that cookies should be packed in small packets. Also, attention must be paid to the selection of cookies. After all, 26/2 is after CNY and I am concerned that some ppl are not so keen on cookies anymore. Stay tune for the list from tai lo...we need your opinions in 'shortlisting' the cookies hehe.

2. Yu Sang
Tai Lo also suggested that we can prepare our own yee sang and sell in bowls. He can get the sauce recipe from his mum. I am not a fan of yu sang, and I am thinking that since it is after CNY, will ppl still be keen? Thus we need your comments, coz cookies fan like me will still wanna eat cookies after CNY. So we would like to know generally what you guys think of yu sang.

* Yu sang, btw, is the CNY salad that people 'lou' or toss b4 eating. <--ALEN didn't know what yu sang was when I mentioned it to him hehe*
Yúshēng (鱼生) is interpreted as homophone for Yúshēng (余升) meaning an increase in abundance. Therefore, yusheng is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor. -Wikipedia

3. Fried Nin Kao
Dai lo will be getting raw nin kao from his hometown because it is cheaper than kl, and nicer too. Ofcuz kl has nice ones too but the price is much higher.

4. Tong Yuen
This idea hit me as I was making tong yuen for reunion dinner just now. Remember the msian studies project? I still recall that our AH LENG TONG YUEN *wink at pui san* was quite a hit. This time round, though we will be charging them, the price won't be high as the cost price is cheap!

We can make tong yuen with gula melaka, red bean paste (buy from outside, no need to be homemade like ours hehe), blended groundnuts and sugar as fillings.

Of course, we would like your feedback for this idea too; because we need to know what potential consumers think. ^_^

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!! May the year of Rat brings us bountiful joy, good health, and good luck in EOS hehe. Play more, Win more and get more angpows!! Gong Xi Fa Cai!!'

Happy Rat Year,
gw

Progress So Far

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we could only give out the order forms tomorrow. At least we got the whole stack printed out today, yay! Goodness; it was like a portfolio of Vday thingy, the song list itself contributed to the bulk lol!!

Tomorrow hoon hing, angeline and a few others will be distributing the order forms to the batch. There will be 10 batches including ours. Sem3 medic is excluded as they are having study break; while sem4 medic will be having posting during valentine's week. We need your help (and charms/influence) to get the batches to place order! ^_^ So, do spread the words around to your friends!

As for the video and wallpaper for publicity, we got the approval to get them posted. Wai Kit is in the midst of fine-tuning the video =) I still have to get the stamp from SRC before Alen and I get to paste them around the uni tomorrow. Meanwhile, u guys can check out THIS BLOG that we have set up for publicity.

Since Ee Ling and friends mentioned to me about completing their board decoration before cny break (bcoz ee ling won't be around on 11/2), I thought I shall just let everyone knows that uni is still open during our cny break. It is only closed on the 1st and 2nd day of CNY. So, if you guys would like to meet in uni (though I doubt it hehe), you may do so.

Regarding the CNY food sale on 26/2, mpharm is also having performance & games. Regarding steph's and ping wei's group's money-churning ideas on games =p , hoon hing will have to check with jason of mpharm if there is any slot for us. So do follow up with him =)

Sorrie I have to resort to this blog to get us updated as I can barely find time in uni to talk to everyone; our lectures are back-t0-back, and it is not nice to call for a committee meeting (to update each other) when CPK class test is lurking around the corner... So thanks for your understanding.

Thanks so much people for what you have done so far! Given that we had such a short period of time to come up with the Vday project, the outcome (publicity, gifts-sourcing, compilation of songs, decoration planning etc.) is good, thanks to b105 spirit! Though we should always hope for the best, we must also be prepared for the worst. If things don't turn out our ways, we will solve it together yeah! *Cross fingers and hope pre-ordering receives good response*

There can be some grey areas as far as task distribution is concerned; there may be overlaps or certain groups may need help from others etc.. Do keep up the 'helping' spirit! However, if there is any confusion in task delegation, do let us know, we will get things sorted out. ^_^

The Lyrics of Love Is In The Air

In the spirit of our upcoming project, here are the lyrics of our theme song! (we didn't even have to choose it as the theme paved the way for it)

LOVE IS IN THE AIR (John Paul Young)
Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound

And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes

Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea

And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name

(Chorus)
Love is in the air
Love is in the air
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Love is in the air
In the rising of the sun
Love is in the air
When the day is nearly done

And I don't know if you're an illusion
Don't know if I see it true
But you're something that I must believe in
And you're there when I reach out for you

Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise

But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes

(Repeat Chorus 4X)

Happy singing/listening/humming the tune =D

Make This Blog Private?

In response to the poll that has just been put up ('Make this blog private'), I just wanna give my opinion. I hope that the blog readers of this blog are kept among us b105; of course I have no problem with our seniors dropping by to cheer us on (*say hi to chi fei and alan*) but I am more concerned about other batches reading our blog; so that's why for valentine's day project publicity's purposes, I have set up another blog (address to be announced on monday) just so that the other students won't be reading our discussion on fund-raising ideas.

This is because; it is
not-so-nice for our would-be customers to read what we have in mind. (It is unavoidable for us to be talking about cost price etc. in this blog in preparation for a project. Also, there won't be element of surprise if they know what we are planning to launch before the actual event. We may also be changing our things, many things won't be finalised.) More importantly, there are other batches who are raising funds for their convo mag too; and do bear in mind that not all batches are as close to us as mpharm is that we could turn competition into a win-win situation. I am sure we won't want our ideas to be leaked out before we even got approval from the uni right?

Thus, if you have put this blog add on your msn (like what I did last time) to notify our batchmates about the blog, do remove them so that your friends from other batches will not stumble upon our blog. (of course this is just my opinion; we follow majority.) After all, if we want to have fund-raising projects, it is always better to tell the public once we have finalised things. ^_^ Thanks for your attention!

Header

Due to the comment in the previous post, the proposed header is this :

It is said to be elegant and nice. Yes, i agree, and it is an apple style production.

Okay.. so i tried to put up to the header column.. and it appears like this :

i try to adjust the header size and to make the proposed header to go to the middle.. then it looks weird as the header is smaller than the content. So i didn't make a screen shot.

okay, then i try again to put the proposed header above the polls :

the size of the proposed header now become a picture.. and it does not fit the column size. I try to enlarge but it become blur. Then, if it is there, it is a picture, not a header anymore =(

I like the proposed header personally, but i didn't put it on as header due to the following reason :
-the size does not match. if i enlarge it, it will become blur in the end.

So, header needed should be 700 x 300 (size).Email to bpharm05@gmail.com in JPEG high quality format. However, the blog is nice even without a header - clean and visitors won't have to scroll further down to view the content. The default design is good enough, so i think the blog is okay without a header.

Nuffnang

Quoted from Amanda:

"Since this site is going to have many visitors, why don't we join Nuffnang? If I'm not mistaken, if a page has >20 visitors in a day, we could earn some money."

Actually if our page has more than 20 NEW visitors each day then, we've just fulfilled the first criteria in applying for Nuffnang. However, I don't think we'll be able to make it.

McGoddess Speaks

...so listen!

Dear people of B105,

The soft copy of the sponsorship letter has been e-mailed to all the committee members. Committee, do check your hotmail, yahoo, gmail...whatever you're using. Please forward the e-mail to the other members who are under your supervision.

When you read the letter, you may have noticed that there are some areas which are not filled in such as thecompany's name as well as your details (in case the company requires further clarification regarding the whole sponsorship thingie...) So, once you've set your eyes on a potential sponsor, specifically enter the name of the company/ person in the space provided as well as your details...and, print! Now, pester those sponsors into advertising in our convocation magazine.

From what I've heard, Feihing urges everyone to find at least one sponsor each for the publication of the convo mag. If we can do that, money would only be second to our problems. Actually, it would still be a problem...but we'll have some money to roll on at least.

ZOMG! This blog is flourished with so many potential ideas that can be used in our fundraising projects. Just fabulous! Let your creative juices flow out in this blog, everyone...Great job!

p/s. That's you, Alen. Holding my poodle bag. hehe.

Cheers.

Valentine Special

Valentine's Day is just around the very wide corner.

As a reminder, Valentine's isn't ONLY about the lovey-duvey, mushy-mashy stuff...it's more than that, it's our SOURCE OF MONEY baby!

Valentine's is on the 14th of February, which would only give us 3 days of classes (return to uni on the 11th *pouts* ) to set up something different for a change, besides the whole ROSES and CHOCOLATES booth.

As you should know, two groups are in-charge for Valentine's day; William's and Moritz's group.

And here are several of my suggestions which I would like you guys to vote for....eh, how do I insert a voting poll? !@"£$! ...anyway, while I go figure this part out, here are some of my wacky, dodo ideas

1) Get our sexy-mama ladies to dress up as French Maids and sell sweet pastries and 6-paxs men dressed up as Fireman and sell, er, I don't know.

2) Kissing booth! I know we don't have good looking guys in class but if we have too, then will just have to pay hunks to do the kissing, lol, just joking.
..................All the girls know you guys are HooooooT *coughcoughcoughcough*vomits blood*coughcoughcoughcough somemore*

3) Cupid's arrow, this time we use REAL arrows *evil laugh*

...just joking but I wouldn't mind idea 1. lol.

However, I do need a lot more BRAIN POWERED PEOPLE TO THINK FOR ME. hehe.

Now, for the real ideas, which I have no clue on how to manage it yet or whether it is even possible.

1) Speed dating.
- this is how it is suppose to work: rotation of every 6/10minutes between men to get enough details to see if you're interested enough to approach them after the interview session through a single-mingle party.

2) Wall dedication.
- pay rm2 to write a dedication to anyone and will stick it on the board according to batches,if your lucky you'll find a dedication for you from a secret admirer *winks*

3) Couple game show.
Eg: how well do you know each other? warning: this may cause a severe break down in your relationship but the winner wins SOMETHING.

4) Sweet delicacies food sale
- closed up area for performances and food (pastries, dessert, cakes) at the atrium during lunch hour...entry fee?

5) Single? Want to Mingle? Party
-Bored on valentine's day? no fear, join us and you might even get a date for valentine's day...okay, this one is a bit crappy, still haven't come up with an explanation yet.

p/s: we can use the whole week for this, it doesn't just need to be for valentine's day itself, I think.

Yours truly,
Po Leen =D

Food...food n food

I was like thinking....why not sell food that is easier to cook and has high profit margin?

Choco fondue sounds ok to me, but we had a hard time to sell it during our charity run that day.

mayb we can have a burger stall or hotdogs stall for twice a week. It's pretty easy to cook rite? and I think, we can charge it like rm 2.50 *how much can we really earn per burger? not sure...* and no one will be complaining since the canteen food is so expensive. =)

well, that's juz my idea....i dont know if u guys like it or not.

cheers! the blog is expanding so fast that i have to make myself read everyday in order to keep up with the latest updates =) that is a very good sign....

Some Ideas for the Convo Mag

Wow, our website is pretty much a hit already eh! It's just been set up, and ideas and suggestions are already flowing in! And the template has changed too!

I like Alen's idea about the Video CD. I think we could include pictures, videos, or anything other interesting things inside. I have another idea. Why not come up with our very own B105 song and include it into the CD as well? And then one day we can look back at the good old days and sing to this song! (Of course if we ever composed a song, it would be better than the IMU song, right? Ahem.) ;)

Anyway, for the convo mag, I was thinking that it would be nice if we could have a page for "Famous Quotes by Lecturers". Of course the title wouldn't exactly be like that, but I thought it would be funny if we could get someone to do a caricature featuring our lecturers, then quote them. You know, like for instance, some lecturers love to say this: "It's nothing but..." so we could put this line next to this lecturer. Oh by the way, a caricature is a distorted image (drawing) of a person. Well, something like this, or this. I'm sure you guys have seen this kinda things in newspapers, caricatures of our very own politicians. Of course, we need someone who is good in drawing to do this, because even the "distorted" images must be identifiable, right? :) Then maybe we could name this page as "Whose line is this"? Alternatively, this idea could be applied to us too. Here's a picture to illustrate what a caricature is.

It's obvious who this is, right? Don't tell me you don't know who this is lol.

Another one below.

As for the theme for the convo mag, I can't think of any for the moment. But maybe we could come up with the design first, then the theme? Ah I don't know. Probably it's easier the other way round. Oh yes, this is sort of a reply to Elaine's comment in one of the previous posts. Just follow Laura's direction to login and post an entry. Otherwise your comment will be as long as a post lol.

I think we would have to work on getting sponsorships too, especially since it's a good way to cover our costs. Of course, we would have to approach the right people. Ah, but wth, not everyone's approachable. Hehe.

For the fund-raising activity, I thought of something lol. But then it's some crazy idea. I'm going to say it anyway, heh. Since this site is going to have many visitors, why don't we join Nuffnang? If I'm not mistaken, if a page has >20 visitors in a day, we could earn some money. I think. Have to ask someone to check up on that though. And if it's true, we'll just have to visit this site many times a day. We would have to update ourselves anyway, right? ;)

convo mag cover

refering to my comment in the post b4 this.

"u noe thrs this advert or smth wif alot of ppl's face... but when u look properly it says a word...erm.. I THINK thr is such a ting..i mean i was thinking like all our faces.. but coz of the shades of some pics.. its spells out words...u get wad i mean...sounds pretty hard to understand??k..nvm ask me"

the pic above.. is a face of a person.. made out of many pics of ppl...
so using the same concept instead of making out a person's face it can spell out the theme and maps out the logo or smth.. mayb its too boring.. but i duno, dats just wad i tot...[p/s: if u were to zoom in on the pic.. its small pics of erm..naked ppl i tink... i din realise at 1st...but i cudn;t find another example...my apologize..but we r health care professionals...naked bodies... is...nth...]

or maybe like wad gian wan said... we group all our pics in the cover.. but in puzzle shape..like the pic below...maybe the tittle can read "broken pieces into one"[the english sounds wrong..but that tittle just came spontaneously]...

the pic below looks nice too rite.. just smth to erm.. trigger more ideas..

i like how the pictures contrast wif the black... nice~

Theme Part II & Cover

*wipe tears away* Thanks ppl for the overwhelming support and ideas! This shows that our heterogenous batch, when put together, could come up with something great. And what we have shown so far is just a teeny weeny bit, ain't it? hehe...

Alen, I like your idea about the cd a lot!! and please show me the sample! If done, it will be a breakthrough as no other batch has done it before =) Some more it won't cost much to burn CD ourselves, we just need the ppl with skills. Yeah, let's ask Wai Kit if he can lead the team if majority of u like the idea!

Ok for the theme, I know we can't help but to feel that some are cliched but here are some themes that hopefully can trigger your brain cells. I am not the most creative person around, so do bear with my not-so-brilliant ideas in the process of figuring THE ONE that SHOUTS OUT B105 ya!

Some of the themes I found on websites:

The more general ones:
Many Voices. One story
Mine. Yours. Ours
Yesterday. Today. Years to Come

The more specific ones:
Through Our Eyes
Our Monologues
Reflection of Change
The Abridged Version
Nth Degree
The Final Touch
Finishing Touches
Vantage Point
Unified Diversity
Veni. Vidi. Vici. (We came, we saw, we conquered)
YOUnique

Since the theme will be in the front cover, I thought I shall just mention an idea that I have so it can perhaps leads us to thinking of a theme. Hope this may trigger something among u all and we can even improve on that.

My suggestion is to feature ALL of us in the front cover in a movie poster style, as you can see in the pic below. (of course the pics will be smaller since there are 76 of us) Alen and team, plz take note since u asked for ideas =)

the the title can read sth like 'A B105 Production [The theme here]' so the theme is like the movie title.

The following is what hui xin showed me. This design is quite nice so perhaps it can serve as our source of inspiration too. Wai chiat told me sth about a 'football poster' so rmb to show us ya!

signing off in hope that enlightenment shall hit more fellow b105,
gw =)
