Progress So Far
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we could only give out the order forms tomorrow. At least we got the whole stack printed out today, yay! Goodness; it was like a portfolio of Vday thingy, the song list itself contributed to the bulk lol!!
Tomorrow hoon hing, angeline and a few others will be distributing the order forms to the batch. There will be 10 batches including ours. Sem3 medic is excluded as they are having study break; while sem4 medic will be having posting during valentine's week. We need your help (and charms/influence) to get the batches to place order! ^_^ So, do spread the words around to your friends!
As for the video and wallpaper for publicity, we got the approval to get them posted. Wai Kit is in the midst of fine-tuning the video =) I still have to get the stamp from SRC before Alen and I get to paste them around the uni tomorrow. Meanwhile, u guys can check out THIS BLOG that we have set up for publicity.
Since Ee Ling and friends mentioned to me about completing their board decoration before cny break (bcoz ee ling won't be around on 11/2), I thought I shall just let everyone knows that uni is still open during our cny break. It is only closed on the 1st and 2nd day of CNY. So, if you guys would like to meet in uni (though I doubt it hehe), you may do so.
Regarding the CNY food sale on 26/2, mpharm is also having performance & games. Regarding steph's and ping wei's group's money-churning ideas on games =p , hoon hing will have to check with jason of mpharm if there is any slot for us. So do follow up with him =)
Sorrie I have to resort to this blog to get us updated as I can barely find time in uni to talk to everyone; our lectures are back-t0-back, and it is not nice to call for a committee meeting (to update each other) when CPK class test is lurking around the corner... So thanks for your understanding.
Thanks so much people for what you have done so far! Given that we had such a short period of time to come up with the Vday project, the outcome (publicity, gifts-sourcing, compilation of songs, decoration planning etc.) is good, thanks to b105 spirit! Though we should always hope for the best, we must also be prepared for the worst. If things don't turn out our ways, we will solve it together yeah! *Cross fingers and hope pre-ordering receives good response*
There can be some grey areas as far as task distribution is concerned; there may be overlaps or certain groups may need help from others etc.. Do keep up the 'helping' spirit! However, if there is any confusion in task delegation, do let us know, we will get things sorted out. ^_^
cheers,
gw

The Lyrics of Love Is In The Air
In the spirit of our upcoming project, here are the lyrics of our theme song! (we didn't even have to choose it as the theme paved the way for it)
LOVE IS IN THE AIR (John Paul Young)
Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes
Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea
And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name
(Chorus)
Love is in the air
Love is in the air
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Love is in the air
In the rising of the sun
Love is in the air
When the day is nearly done
And I don't know if you're an illusion
Don't know if I see it true
But you're something that I must believe in
And you're there when I reach out for you
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes
(Repeat Chorus 4X)
Happy singing/listening/humming the tune =D
cheers,
gian wan

Make This Blog Private?
In response to the poll that has just been put up ('Make this blog private'), I just wanna give my opinion. I hope that the blog readers of this blog are kept among us b105; of course I have no problem with our seniors dropping by to cheer us on (*say hi to chi fei and alan*) but I am more concerned about other batches reading our blog; so that's why for valentine's day project publicity's purposes, I have set up another blog (address to be announced on monday) just so that the other students won't be reading our discussion on fund-raising ideas.
This is because; it is not-so-nice for our would-be customers to read what we have in mind. (It is unavoidable for us to be talking about cost price etc. in this blog in preparation for a project. Also, there won't be element of surprise if they know what we are planning to launch before the actual event. We may also be changing our things, many things won't be finalised.) More importantly, there are other batches who are raising funds for their convo mag too; and do bear in mind that not all batches are as close to us as mpharm is that we could turn competition into a win-win situation. I am sure we won't want our ideas to be leaked out before we even got approval from the uni right?
Thus, if you have put this blog add on your msn (like what I did last time) to notify our batchmates about the blog, do remove them so that your friends from other batches will not stumble upon our blog. (of course this is just my opinion; we follow majority.) After all, if we want to have fund-raising projects, it is always better to tell the public once we have finalised things. ^_^ Thanks for your attention!
cheers,
gw

Header

I like the proposed header personally, but i didn't put it on as header due to the following reason :
-the size does not match. if i enlarge it, it will become blur in the end.
So, header needed should be 700 x 300 (size).Email to bpharm05@gmail.com in JPEG high quality format. However, the blog is nice even without a header - clean and visitors won't have to scroll further down to view the content. The default design is good enough, so i think the blog is okay without a header.

Valentine's Day Gifts & Songs Dedication
Disclaimer: This update is correct as of 24/1/08. We would duly inform you all if there is any alteration/addition =) [This is bcoz the my net is down and I am cut off from the outside world T_T]
Theme: Love is In The Air
Date: 12/2/08-14/2/08
Venue: Atrium
Tentative time: 12 noon- 2.30 p.m. (bcoz medic may have csu)
Items for sale:
1) Roses - 1/3/5/12 roses wrapped in a bouquet
2) Chocolate bouquet- 3 ferero rocher chocs wrapped in a mini bouquet
3) Beautifully wrapped teddy bear
To personalise each item, a handmade card will be attached.
Als0: Song Dedication & The 'Wall of Love'
For each song dedication, the message will not only be read out by our emcees (po leen & andrew=), but also, it will be written on a heart-shaped paper and pasted on the 'wall of love'
Pre-ordering starts next week- we would be giving out the order forms to the respective batch. On Valentine's day, these batches would be around: B105, B106, B107, P106, P107, P108, M107, M207. Thus thery are our targets!!
(M106 would be having their rotation posting while M206 would be having their EOS. I will find out about the nursing batch tmr.)
When we return from CNY break, it would be 11/2 (monday). The board (for the 'Wall of Love')would be decorated on that day in preparation for the following three days.
On 12/2 and 13/2, we would be having song dedication at atrium on the above stated time. We would be having a booth to receive pre-ordering as well.
On 13/2 and perhaps 12/2 night, we would be working overtime to get the things wrapped, message written and orders checked. That would be the time for us to show our b105 spirit ^_^
On 14/2, we would have song dedication at the atrium, as well as booth for selling the items. At the same time, we would be having 'cupids' to delivery the items to the various recipients. I am getting hold of the venue of each batch for 14/2 so I will be informing u all as to where to locate them.
Not to mention, an email would be forwarded to all staff and lecturers by next week to inform them about our funding project. hehe, so u guys can work your charms on the lecturers!! *wink*
Publicity in the form of wallpaper, slideshow and flyers will also be up next week=) Do spread the word around to your friends!!
Our efficient treasurer is playing actuarist at the moment; thus we would inform everyone about the price once we finalise them by this weekends. Stay tuned.... and thanks everyone for all the hard work amidst our hectic schedule!!
cheers,
gian wan

McGoddess Speaks
Dear people of B105,
The soft copy of the sponsorship letter has been e-mailed to all the committee members. Committee, do check your hotmail, yahoo, gmail...whatever you're using. Please forward the e-mail to the other members who are under your supervision.
When you read the letter, you may have noticed that there are some areas which are not filled in such as thecompany's name as well as your details (in case the company requires further clarification regarding the whole sponsorship thingie...) So, once you've set your eyes on a potential sponsor, specifically enter the name of the company/ person in the space provided as well as your details...and, print! Now, pester those sponsors into advertising in our convocation magazine.
From what I've heard, Feihing urges everyone to find at least one sponsor each for the publication of the convo mag. If we can do that, money would only be second to our problems. Actually, it would still be a problem...but we'll have some money to roll on at least.
ZOMG! This blog is flourished with so many potential ideas that can be used in our fundraising projects. Just fabulous! Let your creative juices flow out in this blog, everyone...Great job!
p/s. That's you, Alen. Holding my poodle bag. hehe.
Cheers.

Valentine Special
Valentine's Day is just around the very wide corner.
As a reminder, Valentine's isn't ONLY about the lovey-duvey, mushy-mashy stuff...it's more than that, it's our SOURCE OF MONEY baby!
Valentine's is on the 14th of February, which would only give us 3 days of classes (return to uni on the 11th *pouts* ) to set up something different for a change, besides the whole ROSES and CHOCOLATES booth.
As you should know, two groups are in-charge for Valentine's day; William's and Moritz's group.
And here are several of my suggestions which I would like you guys to vote for....eh, how do I insert a voting poll? !@"£$! ...anyway, while I go figure this part out, here are some of my wacky, dodo ideas
1) Get our sexy-mama ladies to dress up as French Maids and sell sweet pastries and 6-paxs men dressed up as Fireman and sell, er, I don't know.
2) Kissing booth! I know we don't have good looking guys in class but if we have too, then will just have to pay hunks to do the kissing, lol, just joking.
..................All the girls know you guys are HooooooT *coughcoughcoughcough*vomits blood*coughcoughcoughcough somemore*
3) Cupid's arrow, this time we use REAL arrows *evil laugh*
...just joking but I wouldn't mind idea 1. lol.
However, I do need a lot more BRAIN POWERED PEOPLE TO THINK FOR ME. hehe.
Now, for the real ideas, which I have no clue on how to manage it yet or whether it is even possible.
1) Speed dating.
- this is how it is suppose to work: rotation of every 6/10minutes between men to get enough details to see if you're interested enough to approach them after the interview session through a single-mingle party.
2) Wall dedication.
- pay rm2 to write a dedication to anyone and will stick it on the board according to batches,if your lucky you'll find a dedication for you from a secret admirer *winks*
3) Couple game show.
Eg: how well do you know each other? warning: this may cause a severe break down in your relationship but the winner wins SOMETHING.
4) Sweet delicacies food sale
- closed up area for performances and food (pastries, dessert, cakes) at the atrium during lunch hour...entry fee?
5) Single? Want to Mingle? Party
-Bored on valentine's day? no fear, join us and you might even get a date for valentine's day...okay, this one is a bit crappy, still haven't come up with an explanation yet.
p/s: we can use the whole week for this, it doesn't just need to be for valentine's day itself, I think.
Yours truly,
Po Leen =D

Food...food n food
I was like thinking....why not sell food that is easier to cook and has high profit margin?
Choco fondue sounds ok to me, but we had a hard time to sell it during our charity run that day.
mayb we can have a burger stall or hotdogs stall for twice a week. It's pretty easy to cook rite? and I think, we can charge it like rm 2.50 *how much can we really earn per burger? not sure...* and no one will be complaining since the canteen food is so expensive. =)
well, that's juz my idea....i dont know if u guys like it or not.
cheers! the blog is expanding so fast that i have to make myself read everyday in order to keep up with the latest updates =) that is a very good sign....

Some Ideas for the Convo Mag
It's obvious who this is, right? Don't tell me you don't know who this is lol.
Another one below.
As for the theme for the convo mag, I can't think of any for the moment. But maybe we could come up with the design first, then the theme? Ah I don't know. Probably it's easier the other way round. Oh yes, this is sort of a reply to Elaine's comment in one of the previous posts. Just follow Laura's direction to login and post an entry. Otherwise your comment will be as long as a post lol.
For the fund-raising activity, I thought of something lol. But then it's some crazy idea. I'm going to say it anyway, heh. Since this site is going to have many visitors, why don't we join Nuffnang? If I'm not mistaken, if a page has >20 visitors in a day, we could earn some money. I think. Have to ask someone to check up on that though. And if it's true, we'll just have to visit this site many times a day. We would have to update ourselves anyway, right? ;)

convo mag cover
"u noe thrs this advert or smth wif alot of ppl's face... but when u look properly it says a word...erm.. I THINK thr is such a ting..i mean i was thinking like all our faces.. but coz of the shades of some pics.. its spells out words...u get wad i mean...sounds pretty hard to understand??k..nvm ask me"

the pic above.. is a face of a person.. made out of many pics of ppl...
so using the same concept instead of making out a person's face it can spell out the theme and maps out the logo or smth.. mayb its too boring.. but i duno, dats just wad i tot...[p/s: if u were to zoom in on the pic.. its small pics of erm..naked ppl i tink... i din realise at 1st...but i cudn;t find another example...my apologize..but we r health care professionals...naked bodies... is...nth...]
or maybe like wad gian wan said... we group all our pics in the cover.. but in puzzle shape..like the pic below...maybe the tittle can read "broken pieces into one"[the english sounds wrong..but that tittle just came spontaneously]...

the pic below looks nice too rite.. just smth to erm.. trigger more ideas..

Theme Part II & Cover
*wipe tears away* Thanks ppl for the overwhelming support and ideas! This shows that our heterogenous batch, when put together, could come up with something great. And what we have shown so far is just a teeny weeny bit, ain't it? hehe...
Alen, I like your idea about the cd a lot!! and please show me the sample! If done, it will be a breakthrough as no other batch has done it before =) Some more it won't cost much to burn CD ourselves, we just need the ppl with skills. Yeah, let's ask Wai Kit if he can lead the team if majority of u like the idea!
Ok for the theme, I know we can't help but to feel that some are cliched but here are some themes that hopefully can trigger your brain cells. I am not the most creative person around, so do bear with my not-so-brilliant ideas in the process of figuring THE ONE that SHOUTS OUT B105 ya!
Some of the themes I found on websites:
The more general ones:
Many Voices. One story
Mine. Yours. Ours
Yesterday. Today. Years to Come
The more specific ones:
Through Our Eyes
Our Monologues
Reflection of Change
The Abridged Version
Nth Degree
The Final Touch
Finishing Touches
Vantage Point
Unified Diversity
Veni. Vidi. Vici. (We came, we saw, we conquered)
YOUnique
Since the theme will be in the front cover, I thought I shall just mention an idea that I have so it can perhaps leads us to thinking of a theme. Hope this may trigger something among u all and we can even improve on that.
My suggestion is to feature ALL of us in the front cover in a movie poster style, as you can see in the pic below. (of course the pics will be smaller since there are 76 of us) Alen and team, plz take note since u asked for ideas =)
the the title can read sth like 'A B105 Production [The theme here]' so the theme is like the movie title.
The following is what hui xin showed me. This design is quite nice so perhaps it can serve as our source of inspiration too. Wai chiat told me sth about a 'football poster' so rmb to show us ya!
signing off in hope that enlightenment shall hit more fellow b105,
gw =)

THEME
Ok, as feihing had mentioned earlier in class, we need a theme and we need it NOW pronto!! This is because we need it to design a cool and professional logo. Please put ur brain to work asap and come up with smth good. Dont grudge later on after the magazine has been published and our theme sucks.
On a different matter, I had an idea of making a video cd attached to our magazine. The video cd will contain our testimonials, exclusive interviews, our wishes, behind the scenes, etc. I've got samples of it if anyone is interested. I actually got this idea from hillsong United cds. They always have this special video attached to their albums. Just a thought. If approved, i think wai kit can lead this video making team.

date: 23rd feb 2008
suggestions:
1. satay celup
2. n/a
ps: poleen, there's a request for u to cook mushroom soup(was that wat u cooked during the carnival?) and ur other 'la sao' delicacies.
the profit margin would be shared, 8/2. if they hit their target, they will give us 100%.

random mambojumbo
ppl, come up with poll ideas! for e.g., the most eligible guy in b105? em...none of the above? :P JUST A JOKE PPL...must laugh a bit in life. Hahahahahhhahah XD we need poll ideas, i can't wait to vote. Hehe
okay, and for fund raising ideas...hm, other than the usual donut selling, does anyone have any other great ideas? i think doing a carwash will be good...i'm sure the lecturers will be glad to chip in for our convo mag and get a clean car in return. And, if the ppl doing the carwash need the super gila jet spray, i can lend mine no prob. on one condition, - it comes back to me in one piece. another plus point, you're killing 2 birds with one stone. getting funds, AND exercise. isn't that fantastic? and also, you get to play with water! like omg, how fun is THAT?! -_- wet wet wet baybeh
or, why don't, we set up a shoe polishing booth. lol...u know those kind u see on the road sides in india or somewhere?
or, we could busk! u know, ok maybe not me WE, but some of you ppl can busk to solicit donations from the students or the imu population. grab a guitar, some singers, maybe a shaker, tambourine, etc. and you have our very own AMIGOS from b105. woohoo. or pharmabuskers! oh, and not forgetting your hat or a collection bucket. Or, no need to sing also can. do some magic tricks why not. or mime?
or food sales, as steph suggested - satay celup again? it was quite a big hit the last time right?
ideas for cny and valentine's day.. i really have no idea. maybe selling orange juice? HAHAH. cos chinese new year eat orange wat... lol. i know right. ok i shall shut up.
till i receive enlightenment again,
carol

The use of login account
Okay, since i am the one who sign up and create this blog, i shall explain the use and types of login account username available...
On the right side bar, u will see 4 contributors. Firstly, ADM. ADM is for our group, meaning us who will edit or put in stuff for this blog, e.g. polls etc in future. Then, u will see Editorial board. This is a special account for the top 4 committees, Gian wan, Hoon Hing, Angeline and MoneyChan, as well as the rest of the committee member. Then lastly, the 2 b105guest account. These are for you all who want to post some random stuff up to this blog.
Okay, the purpose of setting up different account is to sort out the post from the Editorial Board, our own group and the rest of the B105. This will somehow make the job easier next time when we are summarizing the polls or articles that we want and sort the editor's post accordingly as it might be useful in convoMAG.
Do ask the password from me - josantoes, or any of my group member.
thank you. Happy talking.. and cheers~

Ideas, Ideas!
Hi everyone,
Looks like there are some low-profile people who preferred to email me personally =) I shall take the liberty to quote her idea here; so that I can get feedback from everyone.
then we write up about these stuff in a funny manner? it's a way to enable our magazine to commemorate all the little things (which some people may have forgotten about) in our years in BPharm perhaps.. and we can get the class (through the blog maybe) to nominate "moments" and to vote for the favourite moment or something..'
I personally like the idea very much; why do you all think? Especially the Profiles, Polls and Dedications Team, do take this into consideration when you all come up with your plan.
Though each leader is assigned a specific field, e.g. 'graphics and layout', it doesn't restrict members from that particular group to help out in another field. If a few members of the group would like to help out in 'articles' , they are welcomed to approach the leader of the 'articles' group.
To all editorial board members, just a reminder that there will be a meeting after class tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. Let's meet outside medic pbl first. Please be punctual as someone has to leave early for toxicology project meeting. As for the rest, hope that u all can stay till before class starts ya. We need to draft out our MONEY- CHURNING plan *looks at Money Chan* as well as selecting our THEME.
cheers,
gw

The Editorial Board
Welcome to the channel of our voices for the convo mag!! Here is the list of the editorial board members as well as leaders of respective groups.
Editor: Gian W
Assistant Editor: Hoon Hing
Secretary: Angeline
Treasurer: Wai Chiat
Photographer: William
Graphics and Layout Team: Alen, Moritz, Phaik Hoon
Articles: Stephanie, Chia Woon
Profiles, Polls and Dedications: Ping Wei
Sponsorship and Advertisement: Sarghunan, Jason
*Except for Hoon Hing, Wai Chiat, and I, the rest of the names mentioned above are the leaders for their respective groups.
If you wish to post something, do login to blogger using the login name b105guest1 or b105 guest2. Do ask me for the password. =) Please leave your name/group to facilitate our planning, thanks!
The members in the editorial board are in charge of both the magazine itself and the fund-raising events. I will be chiefly supervising the production of the magazine while hoon hing will be looking into the fund-raising events (he is the president, rmb? hehe). Right now, please don't get stressed with the convo mag because the pressing issue is $$$. The compilation of things can take place at a later stage; for the time being, just be on the lookout for ideas. =)
Feel free to approach any of us if you have idea for the theme (first thing we need to do), design or features for the magazine (this can take place slowly coz what is more important is that we start raising funds). I hope that I am able to carry out the task well with the help and cooperation of everyone, thanks for your trust and support ^_^
Cheers,
gw

Official launch of B105 convo mag blog.
